Barmoor Castle

We have carried out a Conservation Management Plan and Options Appraisal for this Grade II* Listed building, grant aided by English Heritage. The Building is on the ‘At Risk Register’.The property has been unoccupied since 1975 resulting in fallen roofs and floors covered in vegetation.
The work has been carried out alongside detailed archaeological recording and a historic landscape and gardens report.
The options appraisal for proposed uses, together with likely costs of implementation, was carried out with other specialist consultants. It favours conversion to high quality holiday lets with each unit being totally individual. There will also be space allocated to tell the story of the Castle from its turbulent years associated with the Battle of Flodden, through to grand building ideas as a base for film star visits.
The project has appeared in the English Heritage magazine as a positive approach to Buildings at Risk ‘A Window of Opportunity’.
The next phase of work is underway in seeking funding streams.
