Welcome Ella

Ella Johnson will be working with us for the next year. She has completed her Part I degree in Architecture from Newcastle University and will return next September to undertake her Part II qualifications. Ella has particular interest in historic buildings and has arrived with us just as we start work on an exciting new job in which she will now be involved.
We have commenced work on a feasibility study to create a new use for The Pattern Shop, a large Grade II listed long neglected industrial building which is one of the key historic buildings in Newcastle’s Stephenson Quarter where Stephenson’s ‘Rocket’ was built.
This work is a joint project with our sister practice xsite architecture.

I joined the practice in the 1980’s. It was known then as a practice of integrity and professionalism, creating quality designs through friendly personal service. What has changed? Workload is slightly different now, responding over the years to shifting economic conditions, new concerns about climate change and client expectations, but our underlying philosophy about the way we choose to work remains the same.
