Three Reasons We Are Celebrating

Following the announcement of the successful funding bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund resulting in a multi-million pound grant, His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester visited our project the Union Chain Bridge to herald the next phase of work. A major programme of repairs will get underway next year, overseen by Spence and Dower.

English Heritage’s Belsay Awakes Project is equally successful in achieving a multi-million pound National Lottery Heritage Fund grant for major conservation and landscape works, including provision of a new tea room in an unused listed Coach house. Tender documents for the building works are now being prepared.

Conversion work rescuing redundant buildings at a locally listed farmstead, which has buildings dating from 1750 to more recent early Dutch barns, has been given a Highly Commended accolade in this year’s Durham County Council Environment Awards.
