Heritage Lottery Funding Successes

We have been appointed as Conservation Architects for the Development and
Delivery phases of the £7.3m Grade I Listed Union Chain Bridge Project near
Berwick. Funding from Heritage Lottery was approved in March. We are
working with Scottish Borders Council, Northumberland County Council,
Museums and Archives Northumberland, and Friends of the Union Chain Bridge

Just before our success in continuing next phases of work on the bridge we
also found out that we were appointed by English Heritage as part of the team
carrying out major Heritage Lottery Funded work at Belsay Hall,
Northumberland – Belsay Awakes. This includes new visitor facilities at the
Old Stables, new interpretation material, conservation work to the roof of the
hall and rejuvination works to the gardens.

I joined the practice in the 1980’s. It was known then as a practice of integrity and professionalism, creating quality designs through friendly personal service. What has changed? Workload is slightly different now, responding over the years to shifting economic conditions, new concerns about climate change and client expectations, but our underlying philosophy about the way we choose to work remains the same.
